Meet Your Heart Doctor
Raleigh-Durham, NC

June 2, 2020

The heart is critical to the health of the entire human body. Without blood flowing unrestricted through the cardiovascular system, everything else ceases to function as intended. It follows that everyone, including you, wants to take proper care of their heart.

If you’re wondering when it’s wise to see a heart doctor, here’s a helpful overview of what we do at Champion Heart & Vascular Center starting with who we are.

Who We Are

My name is Dr. Ramaraj, and alongside my physician assistant, Tracy Bowman, I care for the hearts of North Carolina patients every day at Champion Heart & Vascular Center, PA.

My assistant and I have had training and/or affiliation with a long list of prestigious institutions, including Yale University, Harvard Medical School, UCLA, Cedars Sinai Medical Center, Johns Hopkins University, and Duke University.

Personally, I'm also accredited for nuclear cardiology from the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission ("IAC"), which is known for its higher standards of accreditation.

In short, I’m an expert on all things cardiovascular—and I’m dedicated to providing that expertise to every patient I encounter.

What Conditions We Treat

At Champion Heart & Vascular Center, we provide a wide range of same-day, minimally invasive, dedicated outpatient services. They’re all provided in our specialized endovascular suite, which includes echocardiography, a vascular lab, and more.

I’m proud to treat heart disease, including arterial, structural, and arrhythmias. I also treat venous disease like varicose or spider veins and leg pain or swelling. Additional specializations at Champion include uterine fibroids (non-cancerous tumors in the uterus,) pelvic congestion syndrome (varicose veins in a woman’s lower abdomen,) and varicocele (varicose veins around the testicles.)

What Treatments We Provide

I treat every condition in the most effective way for the patient’s particular concern. Specific treatments that Champion Heart & Vascular Center provides include:

  • Echocardiography, or “ECHO” for short, is a simple, safe, and painless ultrasound test that produces moving pictures using sound waves.
  • EKG (also known as ECG) is shorthand for “electrocardiogram,” which painlessly evaluates electrical activity in the heart.
  • Exercise Stress Testing involves observing how your body responds to different types of exercise. This helps pinpoint suspected artery blockages.
  • Nuclear Stress Testing identifies if there’s any decreased blood flow to the heart.
  • Vascular Ultrasounds can also detect artery blockages, but in addition, they identify the direction of blood flow, as well as existing or developing blood clots.
  • Ankle/Brachial Index Testing uses blood pressure cuffs to check the comparative blood pressure between your ankle and your arm.

How To Schedule An Appointment

If you’re concerned about any of the above conditions or interested in any of our available treatments, the best way to start is with making an appointment. I’d be happy to personally answer any questions or concerns you have, and I pride myself on only and always dedicating my full attention and expertise to every patient. Make an appointment on our website today. I look forward to helping ensure your heart health so you can live your life uninhibited by cardiovascular problems!
